Short Film Night - Tyneside Cinema

Candle & Bell are proud to announce that they will be hosting a short film night at the Tyneside Cinema every month. The first addition will showcase the multi-award winning short film 'Sleepworking' by Gavin Williams, Villing Chong's 'Birthday' and 'James Will Howl' directed by RTS nominated director, Harry Jenkinson. Tickets for the screening will be £3.

The purpose of the Short Film Night is to bring together members of the public and filmmakers, and celebrate the wealth of talent and creativity in short filmmaking today. Candle & Bell will handle all submissions and filmmakers are encouraged to submit their films for consideration. We will accept films from students and professionals alike in the following genres:

  • Drama
  • Comedy
  • Horror
  • Poetry Films
  • Animation
  • Sci-Fi

Films should be between 5 to 30 minutes long. We accept submissions from filmmakers within the North East and UK wide. Please send a link to your film to Please include the following details:

  • Your Name
  • Your Role on the Film
  • Producer Name
  • Title of Film
  • Genre
  • Short Synopsis (max. 100 words)
  • Any festival screenings or awards your film has won
  • Year of production

If your submission is successful we will contact you and arrange for your film to be included in one of the monthly programs.
